Director of Christian Formation
Sonja grew up in the area and now lives in Renton. She has three grown daughters. Sonja graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute (now Trinity College) with a degree in Biblical studies, and then from Wheaton College with a degree in Christian Education. After graduation, she worked at Mercer Island Covenant Church in Christian Education, followed by 10 years working at her girls’ school as a preschool teacher, teacher’s aide, and after-school care provider. Sonja has been working at St. Margaret’s since June 2007.
Director of Music Ministries
Ryan Ellis is originally from Baton Rouge where he was brought up in an Episcopal Church, beginning his passion for Sacred music at a young age. He stayed in his hometown to study Organ Performance and Composition at Louisiana State University. He then moved to Massachusetts for graduate studies in the aforementioned and subsequently earned a Masters in Choral Conducting at UMass, Amherst. Ryan and his wife, Tara, moved to Bermuda in 2005 and he taught music privately, directed the Bermuda Chamber Choir and Orchestra and was Director of Music at the Anglican Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity. In 2009, their son Keegan was born and in the fall of 2011, the family relocated back to the States and happily discovered opportunities in the Seattle area. Ryan was warmly welcomed into the St. Margaret’s congregation in January of 2012 and he appreciates being a part of this vibrant Episcopalian family.
Sojourner Praise Band Director
Duane has been leading the Sojourners Praise Band for 23 years. Son of an Episcopal priest, Duane grew up in the church, left for a while, then joined St. Margarets in 1993 drawn back by contemporary christian music. Professionally, an IT Manager, Duane is an avid sailor, as well a guitarist. Duane and his wife Diane have seven sons between them.
Linda moved here from the Chicago area with her family in 2004. She lives in Sammamish with her husband Michael; together they have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. She was raised an Episcopalian in a small church in New Hampshire. She has been working as a Parish Administrator for 15 years now, St. Margaret’s is her 4th Episcopal Church to work in. She is a member at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Seattle. She was hired in July 2010.
Warren is an internationally known landscape architect who joined the staff of St. Margaret’s in the summer of 2007. Warren’s artful eye has resulted in many other innovative improvements to our facilities since his arrival. He is married to Carolyn Wyman.
