Profile Committee To Be Formed

Profile Committee To Be Formed

At the May 14th Vestry meeting, the Canon to the Ordinary, the Rev. Dr. Marda Steedman-Sanborn gave an overview of the process to call a new rector. The Vestry responsibilities in this process include appointing members to three committees: A Profile, a Search (or Call) and a Transition committee. To start the process, the vestry is seeking seven people to serve on the Profile committee. Their task will be to collect, compile and analyze information about the congregation and write a church profile for review by the Bishop’s office. The process is anticipated to take up to six months, although the duration depends primarily on how frequently the committee meets. Ideally, members of the committee will collectively have good writing and organizational skills as well as facilitation and/or data gathering experience. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Charlie Grass and Eileen Treusch at wardens@saintmargarets.org. The vestry intends to appoint individuals to the Profile committee at its June 11th vestry meeting. Committee member diversity is important; interested individuals will be appointed depending upon their skill set, level of
interest and committee needs. The Search and Transition committees’ members will be appointed at a later date.

Have you ever considered EFM? We now offer two classes – a morning group on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m., and an evening group on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Registration begins now and will close by June 23rd. For more information, stop by the table in the narthex and/or contact Sonja Lindberg, Cheryl Gaillard (morning group) or Lesley Hooker (evening group) by emailing efm@saintmargarets.org

Education for Ministry runs September through June and is a unique four-year certificate program in theological education where a small group of adults comes together to study scripture, explore ideas and history, and talk through questions about God and faith. You can take all four years or just one. Whatever works for your schedule. EfM is an enrichment in faith. It is an active pursuit to deepen your own personal relationship with God. This pursuit shared in a small group format, not only deepens our bonds to fellow classmates but also by opening us and bringing us into the awareness of the divine presence in us and in all of those around us. Learning in this community, and in this format, sharing ideas without judgment creates a safe and profound environment to explore teachings and our own unique understanding of God.
